Making a Difference!
2010 Charity Ball
October, 2010

 A great humanitarian once said:

There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul then the way in which it treats its children”.  Nelson Mandela

With this in mind a small group of people in Hyderabad namely, Paula James-Scott, Kathleen Murthi and Lax, from the UK, USA and India, have come together with the view to making a difference. To do so we now seek your support and would sincerely hope that you could spare some time to join us, enjoy each other’s company and help us make a difference for some fantastic young children and people in Hyderabad, mostly young girls and women.
On 11th December 2010 there will be a Charity Ball, held at the Westin Hotel, Hyderabad where there will be a formal, silver service, dinner and ball. As an aid to raising funds for charity several Indian artists like Magunta Dayakar , Sriniwas Hari, Annavaram Srinivas, Aparna Malladi, Asha, Radhima, and Kanth have agreed to donate some wonderful pieces of art, expertly curated by Kaali Sudheer of Hyderabad, which will be auctioned at the ball with proceeds going to the charities.
There will be around 20-25 exclusive art pieces which will go under the hammer and we have confidence that we could get response for the same.
We are organizing a Charity Ball in the spirit of harmony between communities.  The event is an opportunity to generate funds for three charitable organizations with similar objectives.

Namely:

Care and Love Orphanage: After assisting existing institutions for years, Family In Action Charitable Trust plans to fill a very apparent need to build facilities that can take care of some of the many orphaned and needy children. The objective being to create facilities that will provide, shelter, care, love and education to these children to prepare them for the future, so that they may be able to sustain themselves financially, and live a decent life. The first home has aims to shelter at least 50 children, with special focus on care of the very vulnerable girl child.  http://www.familyinaction.org.in/

Safa: is a social venture with the belief that socio-economic empowerment of women begins with income generation and education. Safa introduces the urban illiterate women to sustainable livelihoods and supports them in education of their children through an area based community model that retains the cultural / social identity of the women in the society. http://www.safaindia.org/

Prardhana Charitable Trust has been making a difference in Hyderabad since 2001 when it was established to assist children of illiterate construction workers attend school.  The Trust also provides teacher aides, school supplies and extra-curricular activities in the three schools serving these children. Through its work, hundreds of girls now aspire to a better life and have the opportunity to achieve it.   Prardhana Charitable Trust is recognized as one of the eight charities supported by the TEA Cares Foundation, the charitable arm of the Twin-cities Expatriates' Association (TEA) of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Without doubt India has a great future and an important role in the world. Having one of the youngest populations in the world India will also be depending on those young children and adults to deliver the promises of today for the world of tomorrow.

The cost is INR 3,000 per person as admission fee which includes Dinner, Entertainment, and Beverages.  Cheques for event tickets and auction items should be drawn in favour of the escrow agent “Howard James-Scott”.

We would sincerely appreciate your support and look forward to you joining us to help make a difference in whatever way we can.    Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.  Your support, should you choose to participate in this years’ Charity Ball, is greatly appreciated!

Yours sincerely,

Paula James-Scott & the ‘Making A Difference Team’
